Well-Being

By: LaRyia Ferrie

Emotional well-being can be described as a positive sense of well-being which enables an individual to be able to function in society and meet the demands of everyday life. It is not the absence of your emotions, but being able to value your emotions and use them to move in positive directions when going forward in your life.

Being in school can have a negative impact on your emotional well-being. Being bullied, having a bad home life leading into having a bad school environment, economic disadvantage, illness, etc. All of these factors can play a vital role on a student's self esteem and ability to learn. It is important that everyone be aware of their well-being so they can succeed in life and notice their strengths.

Here is a YouTube video that briefly explains Emotional Student Wellbeing.

Using these tips can improve your wellbeing and strive to be a better student. I know I have struggled with self-esteem issues in school. Pressure to do your absolute best can really get to you at times. It is important to realize that things will be okay. Instead of focusing on "what if," just go with the flow, and tell yourself the outcome will be in your favor. You can do anything you set your mind to. Do not let one bad score on a quiz, test, or exam, get you down for the rest of the semester.

Leave stress, worrying, and despair behind you and lead your life with positivity.

I learned this information through self growth, as well as the YouTube video and article. I learned that well-being is crucial to living a happy life. Everyone should know their self worth. It's especially important when going through school because that is when it can be the most difficult to keep pushing forward. It can be easy to feel lack of motivation when you are worried about studying for a difficult exam, but just know that one bad score won't affect your life forever.
